Oprah has done pretty much everything, so clearly the next logical step is selling her own tea with Teavana.
Just in time for Mother’s Day, Starbucks’ Teavana stores will be releasing the brand-new Oprah chai tea, which will feature Oprah’s own tea blend consisting of a “bold infusion of cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and cloves, blended with loose-leaf black tea and rooibos.”
Of course, no Oprah promotion is complete without a connection to charity. Each time a Teavana customer purchases one of these specialty teas, Starbucks will make a donation to the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Foundation, which creates educational opportunities for young people.
“My daily tea ritual is a vital part of my morning,” said Oprah, in a statement. “Savory and spicy chai, with its deep flavor, has long been a favorite of mine. To share one of my favorite things with the rest of the world and support youth education at the same time is truly the perfect blend."
The tea was developed in collaboration with Teavana’s leading teaologist Naoko Tsunoda and will be available as either a chai latte, or in a loose tea format to make at home.

Oprah Winfrey chai teas headed to Starbucks
Oprah Winfrey has her own magazine and television network, and now, the former queen of daytime TV is headed to Starbucks. Winfrey announced a collaboration with the coffee giant to make and sell an Oprah line of Teavana teas at the company’s annual shareholders meeting in Seattle on Wednesday.
“Whoa Starbucks, and Teavana!” Winfrey yelled in that signature I’m-so-excited-I’m-screaming voice, as she took the stage with Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz at the meeting.
She developed a line of Teavana Oprah Chai Tea with Teavana teologist Naoko Tsunoda. Her teas feature the flavors of cinnamon, ginger, cardamom and cloves.
“I love tea,” Winfrey said. “My daily tea ritual is a vital part of my morning. Savory and spicy chai, with its deep flavor, has long been a favorite of mine.”
Starbucks will make a donation for each Oprah product sold to the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation to benefit educational opportunities for youth.
The teas will be sold as lattes or in loose-leaf tea formats at Starbucks and Teavana stores nationwide and in Canada. Information on pricing and availability will be announced in the coming weeks.

Teavana® Oprah Chai Tea
Starbucks owned Teavana and my girl Oprah have come together and created a new "spirit warming blend" of chai tea, appropriately named Oprah Chai Tea- which launched today.
As some of you may already know, I love Oprah- so I jumped at the chance to attend the taste testing event held at the Teavana store located in the Altamone Mall.
The lovely lady at the store explained how to properly steep the tea and the different ways you can prepare it.
You can view how Oprah prepares her chai tea here.
Oprah, who is a tea aficionado, did not only associate her name with this project- which is the first time she's ever done that with any brand- but she also had a huge part in the creation of the chai tea. With the aid of Naoko Tsunoda, Teavana's lead teaologist, Oprah crafted a tea blend that is an infusion of loose-leaf black tea, rooibos and the standard masala chai spices: cinnamon, cloves, ginger and cardamom.
Watch as Oprah, alongside Starbuck's CEO Howard Schultz, come up with the perfect blend- love her reaction!
"I looove tea," said Oprah Winfrey. "My daily tea ritual is a vital part of my morning. Savory and spicy chai, with its deep flavor, has long been a favorite of mine. When Howard Schultz offered to have me come into the Starbucks tasting room and create my very own tea blend, I thought that sounded like such a unique opportunity and fun to the tenth power. To share one of my favorite things with the rest of the world and support youth education at the same time is truly the perfect blend."
For each Teavana Oprah Chai product sold, Starbucks will make a .25 cent donation to the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation, which benefits a variety of youth education charities. So not only will you be enjoying that delicious cup of chai tea but you'll also be giving back at the same time.
In addition to creating the new tea, Oprah launched Steep Your Soul, which is an extension of the Super Soul Sunday series. This new online destination will inspire moments of reflection and an insider's behind-the-scenes look at how the Starbucks partnership came together and how Oprah "steeps her soul".
You can find Oprah's Chai Tea, starting today, at Starbucks and Teavana stores nationwide, offered as a handcrafted latte or loose-leaf tea, and at Teavana online.
Get ready to fall in love and steep your soul with this delicious perfectly made chai tea!!
Teavana Oprah Chai Has Arrived at Starbucks!
Did you know Oprah, queen of media, has partnered with Teavana and come up with a delicious tea variety that not only tastes great but helps girls in need? Starbucks is now offering Teavana Oprah Chai in its stores and it is delicious!
If you know me you already know I am tea drinker. I drink a cup of tea several times a day and it is my favorite drink, hot or cold. I prefer black teas, especially the stronger flavored varieties like chai. But I have a confession to make until this week I had never had loose leaf tea! I like the simplicity of a tea bag, but I admit I have always found the idea of loose leaf tea to be romantic and intriguing. Never had loose leaf tea either? Get yourself to Starbucks where you can now buy Teavana Oprah Chai gift sets that come with pre-packaged loose leaf tea. Not up to brewing your own tea creation? That’s okay, because the baristas at Starbucks can rock this tea for you.
I recently took one of my oldest and dearest friends out to sample this tea together. We tried it as both iced and hot lattes and both were very good. I prefered the tea hot, but that is not unusual for me. The flavor of this tea is warmer, sweeter, and less bitter than the chai I usually drink. I cannot quite put my finger on the exact difference, but I think it is the absence of star anise that really makes me love the Teavana Oprah Chai.
Here are the ingredients (in order):
- black tea
- carob pieces
- black pepper
- natural flavor
- chicory root
The baristas at Starbucks were very enthusiastic about the Teavana Oprah Chai, and it was so easy to see why. We left several empties in our wake and went home feeling quite satisfied. What made our experience even better was knowing that Starbucks will be making a donation for each Teavana Oprah Chai product sold to benefit educational opportunities for youth through the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation. Of course, when Oprah and Starbucks get together on something you know it will include a social good.
This Mother’s Day, Starbucks will be offering a Buy One Get One Free special on Teavana Oprah Chai Tea beverage. Bring mom, or mom-in-law, or a friend in and enjoy some tea together. There is just something special about sharing a cup of tea with a loved one. Check out the Steep Your Soul site where you can share your own tea moments and inspire others. Share your tea moments and use #TeavanaOprahChai.
While you are at Starbucks pick up one of the Teavana Oprah Chai gift sets so you can brew your own tea at home. I prefer brewed tea to lattes and I loved this tea even more when I made it at home in my infuser mug. Seriously fabulous! But don’t drink alone, invite a loved one. Call up an old friend, grab your mom and go! I took a woman I have been friends with since I was 12 years old. We both have families now and too much time passes between our visits but that doesn’t mean I love her any less! This is one amazing women. She is a fantastic stay-at-home-mom to four, a successful college student, and a fiercely loyal friend. Love you, chica!
Steep Your Soul with Teavana Oprah Chai + $250 Gift Card GIVEAWAY #TeavanaOprahChai
When I want something hot to drink, I typically go for coffee. It is my routine every morning. But when I want something cold and refreshing, nothing beats a glass of iced tea. It is my drink of choice at almost any restaurant, especially if they offer flavored varieties. I do have some exceptions to this, especially when it comes to Chai Lattes. My husband absolutely loves them. When he makes me one at home they are such a special treat. Yum!
I’ve walked past our Teavana store in our local mall a few times. I’ve considered stopping in, but every time was with kids in tow when we were short on time. When I was asked to check out new Oprah Chai Tea that hit stores April 29th, I thought it was the perfect excuse to finally visit the store. I didn’t waste any time trying a sample of the tea available in the complimentary taste testing cart. It was delicious! The tea really does sell itself as it put to shame any chai I’ve tried before. Of course I picked some up along with a Grand Tasse Mug to enjoy my tea.
As soon as I got home I made myself a cup and sat down to do some work. Since it was overcast and rainy, it was the perfect way to warm up.
And while I went to Teavana for the chai, I spied this Exotic Iced Tea Collection on sale and couldn’t resist. When it comes to choosing a drink, I’ll pick a fruit flavored iced tea over just about anything. I’m in love with these colorful tins. Anytime I can use something for storage that I actually want to display, it makes me happy. Which one should I try first? I’m thinking Pineapple Pop!
As an added bonus, a charitable donation will be made for every Oprah Chai product sold!
For every Teavana® Oprah Chai product sold at Starbucks or Teavana, Starbucks will donate to the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation. This includes .25 USD for each Teavana® Oprah Chai tea handcrafted beverage, $1 USD per 2oz of Teavana® Oprah Chai Tea, $1 USD per Teavana® Oprah Chai tea tin, and $4 USD per large gift set. Oprah Winfrey Chai Tea Launches in Starbucks, Teavana Teas Locations
The official launch of Oprah Winfrey's chai tea line brings the beverage to Starbucks and Teavana Tea locations, Tuesday.
According to a press release on Starbucks' website, Winfrey, along with the two partnering retailers, collaborated on the endeavor on March 19.
"I looove tea," Winfrey said in a statement at the time. "My daily tea ritual is a vital part of my morning. Savory and spicy chai, with its deep flavor, has long been a favorite of mine.
Winfrey said she was thrilled to involve herself in one of Starbucks initiatives.
"When [CEO] Howard Schultz offered to have me come into the Starbucks tasting room and create my very own tea blend, I thought that sounded like such a unique opportunity and fun to the tenth power," Winfrey said in the statement. "To share one of my favorite things with the rest of the world and support youth education at the same time is truly the perfect blend."
Starbucks customers can buy the drink as a latte, while sister company Teavana Teas has a loose-leaf version available in their stores.
One Starbucks employee said working with Oprah Winfrey was completely worthwhile.
"I was going to school for finance and working in a Teavana store in the mall as a part time job," Jason Adams said in the statement. "I fell in love with the product and the company. About three years ago, I got the opportunity to become Teavana's first designated tea buyer. Working with Oprah was a fantastic experience. It was inspiring because she was so hands-on throughout the whole process."
Adam said many customers like how chai tea tastes.
"Chai is one of the most popular and universally-liked flavor profiles. The spices in the Oprah Chai are balanced out perfectly and it tastes great hot, iced or in a latte, so there are a lot of ways to enjoy it," he said in the statement. "Teavana Oprah Chai is one of the easier teas to make. It's one rounded teaspoon per eight-ounce cup. Add boiling water let it steep for three minutes," Adam said in the statement.
Customers can also warm up and consume the tea in many settings.
"There are a variety of ways to brew tea, just as there is so much variety in the tea itself and in ways to enjoy it," Adams said in the statement. "Tea can be refreshing or soothing. You can drink it by yourself or with a group. It's exciting to hear from so many new tea drinkers. They're trying something I love."
Winfrey, Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz, and Teavana's main teaologist also worked together on the project.
The beverage has strong flavors of cinnamon, ginger, cardamom seeds and cloves.
"With the introduction of Teavana Oprah Chai, we are going to elevate the tea experience in the same way we did for coffee." Schutlz said in a statement.
We Tried It: Oprah Winfrey&rsquos New Chai Tea
The media mogul teamed up with Starbucks and Teavana to create her own tea blend, in stores now.
WHAT: Oprah Winfrey‘s new Oprah Chai Tea, available at Starbucks and Teavana stores nationwide
WHO TRIED IT: Mark Marino, Deputy Editor, PEOPLE.com
WHY HE VOLUNTEERED: Pure curiosity — oh, and he loves Oprah.
Yes, I love Starbucks. And yes, I love Oprah. So when the two married and gave birth to Oprah Chai Tea, I couldn’t wait to meet their new arrival. And Tuesday morning, it happened. I was ordering my usual venti Iced Coffee at Starbucks when I noticed small sample cups of an unfamiliar beverage on the counter. I picked one up. I tasted it. My life changed.
It was an Oprah Chai Latte. And it was amazing. Spicy, sweet, comforting. It’s described as a 𠇋old infusion of cinnamon, ginger, cardamom and cloves,” but to me, it tastes like a hug from Oprah.
I walked out of the store with my iced coffee but couldn’t stop thinking about that little shot of Oprah. Why was it so special? Did the media mogul herself bless each beverage before they were handed to customers? Was Gayle somewhere in the back, frothing up the milk? Finally, that afternoon, I returned to Starbucks for a big ol’ venti Oprah Chai Latte. And it was bliss.
Thankfully, Starbucks sells the Teavana tea blend in canisters and kits, so you can take Oprah home with you. But is she as warm and comforting when not handled by a barista? I decided to find out.
Kevin Mazur/Getty (Courtesy PEOPLE Great Ideas)
First, I tried the tea hot, without milk or sugar (it’s naturally sweet). While I usually stick to mild teas like Earl Grey and herbal blends, I really enjoyed the zing of the Oprah Chai and its Christmassy clove and cinnamon. But this wasn’t as comforting as the latte version I had in the shop it had a kick. Remember how Oprah used to introduce celebrity guests on her talk show by yelling out their names? “Please welcome … JOHHHN TRAVOLTAAAAAAA. ” It’s the liquid form of that. It wakes you up a bit — ideal for those mornings when you need a little “oomph.”
NEVER TOO LATTE
Still seeking that Oprah nirvana, I added milk to the tea. It tasted smoother and more mellow. I imagine this is what they would have served at Oprah’s Book Club, had the tea existed back in the day. I don’t have a book club, but I would definitely serve this to guests or drink it in the afternoon while reading a book.
THE BIG CHILL
Finally, I tried my hand at making an iced latte. Basically, I added ice. And, like an 𠇊ha” moment, it hit me: I suddenly felt very zen and relaxed, like everything was right in the world. This must be how the Oprah’s vorite Things’ show audience felt after coming down from their extreme highs. It was like drinking a cup of love, on the rocks. I didn’t quite feel hugged by Oprah, more like I was basking in her glow. I have found my go-to summer drink.

Although Teavana offered mostly flavored teas, Golden Monkey was the tea for real connoisseurs. This black tea comes from China and belongs to the category of fine teas. Organic Golden Monkey Paw comes from Fujian and is hand-picked and hand-processed with smooth and deep flavor, perfect for all-day drinking.
