Alton Brown’s seminal cooking show Good Eats hasn’t aired a new episode since 2011, but that doesn’t mean its popularity has waned. We’ve watched nearly every episode of the show, so we can say with certainty that this is the definitive Good Eats drinking game.

Take a Sip When:

Alton says something is “very nice indeed.”

Alton talks to the camera through an appliance.

Deb Duchon, Shirley O. Corriher, or “W.” appears.

Alton takes a trip to a grocery store, farm, or factory.

Alton grinds herbs or spices in a coffee grinder.

Alton uses that adjustable measuring cup thing.

Alton has to use a chart or illustration to explain what he’s talking about.

“Thing” makes an appearance.

An outtake is shown at the end of the episode.

Alton starts going on about “unitaskers” .

Alton mentions that he’s got a fire extinguisher handy.

Alton opens up his container of kosher salt.

Take Two Sips When:

Alton pulls nutmeg out of his pocket.

Alton mentions that something is “wafer thin.”

Alton says “oh, bother.”

Lucky Yates appears as the “Dungeon Master.”

You realize that Lucky Yates also voices Krieger on Archer.

Alton actually says Good Eats.

Alton tells us to “walk away, just walk away.”

Alton pulls a tasting spoon from his back pocket.

Alton says "Now go wash those ______ hands."

Finish Your Drink When:

Alton’s “sister” or “nephew” show up and hijack an entire episode.

Alton busts out his “Southern gentleman” character.

“The Lady of the Refrigerator” appears.

Alton shares the screen with his “evil twin.”

The Food Police shows up.

Alton’s dog or iguana make an appearance.

Alton cooks something outdoors, or anyplace that's not his kitchen.

Cooking Simulator Review&colon Good Eats

Think about every other cooking game you're aware of. Diner Dash, Overcooked, and Cook, Serve, Delicious! are all closer to management simulators than they are reflections of what it's like to actually make a meal. Cooking Mama and its ilk may give a closer representation of what it takes to put a dish together, but they're little more than collections of minigames. Battle Chef Brigade is one of my favorite games ever, but even that distills the actual process of cooking down, turning it into a puzzle game.

The point here is that there are very, very few games about cooking that actually allow you to, well, cook. Cooking Simulatoris one of them, and despite a few hiccups, it's the best one out there today.
